The issue concerned the reimbursement of feasibility study costs to China Three Gorges South Asia Investment Limited. Assistant CEO Liu Yonggang of China Three Gorges South Asia Investment Limited expressed appreciation for SIFC's pivotal role in bringing the long-pending matter to a close. The Taunsa Hydropower Project, which originated in 2011 with an initial capacity of 120 megawatts before being upscaled to 135 megawatts, had seen its feasibility study completed by the Chinese firm. However, payment for these study expenses remained outstanding for an extended period. According to Mr. Yonggang, SIFC's proactive efforts and its effective coordination among federal and provincial government entities were instrumental in achieving this breakthrough. He highlighted that the resolution not only clears the path for accelerated progress on the Taunsa Hydropower Project in Punjab but also significantly enhances investor confidence. The Assistant CEO further emphasized that SIFC's timely support and efficient liaison have been crucial in addressing legitimate contractual obligations that had been stalled for considerable time, thereby strengthening the economic partnership between Pakistan and China.
