Lahore's Air Quality Index (AQI) has been recorded at 122, which falls within the moderate category, as confirmed by Director General Environment Abdullah Khan. Currently, westerly winds are blowing across the city, and their existing speed is contributing to the dispersion of airborne pollutants. The Environment Department is maintaining continuous monitoring of the air quality situation.
Looking ahead, meteorological forecasts predict an increase in wind speed during the evening hours today. By 5 PM, winds are expected to reach 8 miles per hour, further intensifying to between 9 and 10 miles per hour from 6 PM to 8 PM. This anticipated rise in wind velocity is hoped to aid in reducing the concentration of polluted particles present in the atmosphere, potentially leading to an improvement in air quality.
Regarding cloud cover, an increase is projected for the afternoon, with a subsequent decrease expected after evening. The Environment Department reiterates its commitment to vigilant oversight of Lahore's air quality and is actively engaged in effective actions against all significant sources of pollution.
