The High Court granted the accused, Anwar, the benefit of doubt after accepting his revision appeal, thereby nullifying the decision of the subordinate court. Earlier, on July 25, 2025, a lower court in Sujawal had convicted Anwar, sentencing him to life in prison along with a fine of Rs. 200,000. He faced accusations of sexually assaulting the 19-year-old niece of Abdul Razzaq. However, the Sindh High Court pointed out significant procedural irregularities in the handling of the case. The court highlighted that the First Information Report (FIR) regarding the incident was registered with a considerable delay. Furthermore, the medical examination of the affected young woman was conducted a full six months after the alleged event. These crucial delays in the legal process formed the basis for the court's decision to acquit the accused by granting him the benefit of doubt.
